Zone & Rep Team CoachesCoaches must get certified through courses that are accredited by the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The OLA has strict guidelines for certification that must be followed if you want to be able to go on the bench at any zone, tournament, or provincial championship event. Please note that these requirements are the same whether you are the coach or assistant coach.
First Year Coach
A first year coach must take or have taken:
- NCCP Introduction to Competition Part A (Previously known as Theory 1)
OR
- NCCP Competitive Coach Introduction (Previously known as Technical 1)
Second Year Or Greater Coach
A second year coach must have taken:
- NCCP Introduction to Competition Part A (Previously known as Theory 1)
AND
- NCCP Competitive Coach Introduction (Previously known as Technical 1)
Trainers
Trainers must have successfully completed an approved trainer's course or equivalent.
Examples of equivalents include:
- Any St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid course of 8 hours or more
- Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & Basic Rescuer CPR course
- Sport Alliance of Ontario/Canadian Red Cross Sport First Aid course
- Ontario Hockey Trainer's Certification Program
- A professional designation (MD, RN, Policeman, Fireman, etc)
