Box Lacrosse is a contact game at all levels and protective equipment should be worn by all players. House league box lacrosse has modified contact rules so the emphasis is on skills development and fun, but we encourage wearing all the proper equipment.
The recommended equipment is:
- CSA approved hockey or lacrosse helmet
- CSA approved full-face mask
- Lacrosse stick (traditionally called the "crosse")
- Paperweight, Tyke & Novice Players receive a free stick!**
- Gloves (hockey or lacrosse)
- Running shoes
- Athletic cup
- Shoulder pads
- Elbow pads or lacrosse arm guards
- Internal mouth guard
- Rib pads
(Novice & Tyke divisions are non-contact play so a rib pad is not required except at the rep level.)
KLA provides goalie equipment for use by players wishing to play the goalie position.
Players who want to play on teams that will travel to tournaments or inter-city play where full-contact is allowed, are required to use all the equipment.

There has been a great deal of confusion expressed regarding what is acceptable in terms of lacrosse helmets. The following should serve as clarification.
You can use a CSA approved hockey helmet and hockey mask without changes for lacrosse. The original chin strap must be attached and used.
If you are adding a lacrosse mask to a hockey helmet, you must use a chin cup AND the original chinstrap that came with the helmet. Alternatively, you may thread a chin cup through your original chinstrap if you choose.
1. This is a safety issue
2. This is a CLA rule (Illegal or dangerous equipment).
