1. A letter is to be sent to the President of the KLA, outlining the request for release and the reason why you, “the applicant” feel it should be granted. In this letter, please indicate any problems that the KLA may be able to address to prevent future difficulties. Also, the applicant is required to complete section one (Parent/Guardian/Player) on the Ontario Lacrosse Association’s (OLA) Release Request Form – Box and submit the form to the KLA along with a $50, non-refundable fee.
2. The Executive committee of the KLA will respond to the applicant within seventy-two (72) hours of receiving the forma request, with either the approved release or a date when the release hearing will be held, along with the time and location. This process will allow the applicant to be present to formally discuss the request.
3. If the KLA denies the request, the KLA will return the OLA form with section two (Lacrosse Club) completed with written reasons for denying the request. The applicant will then be directed on the next steps available to them.
· Please note the following:
§ NO PLAYER WILL BE RELEASED BY THE KLA AFTER MAY 15 OF THAT YEAR.
§ If your unconditional release is granted, you may then register with another association of your choice. In the event that it is not the nearest association, then you will also need a release from them to move onto the next association.
§ If a one year conditional release is granted then you may register with the next closest association for the upcoming season. This will allow you to assess the improvement of your local association and permits you to return to that club without release. If you wish to remain with your new club the following season then you must again request a release from your original club. If granted, the second time then it is permanent, and you will play for the second club until released by them.
